RFD to RFD Transfers for Airguns, Shotguns & Firearms

Our Transfer Fee

We charge £25 for each item recieved, exclusive of ammunition which is handled on a case-by-case basis. See below for more information on what we will accept.

What is an RFD Transfer?

An RFD (Registered Firearms Dealer) to RFD transfer is where an Airgun, Firearm, Shotgun or other item is purchased in one shop, but the age and licencing verification is completed in another.

This process involves the sending RFD booking out them item in question from their register to another RFD, who in turn has to recive it and list it on their register. The item is then "disposed" from their register to the customer.

Because of the administration required, RFD's make a charge for this service, normally per item and is paid directly to the RFD the item is being collected from.

What can be sent on an RFD transfer?

In theory an item, or combination of items can be transferred from RFD to RFD, however some RFD's impose restrictions on what they will accept.

  • Some RFD's do not accept the transfer of an item they themselves have in stock. If you are purchasing a new item from us for transfer, please check with your local RFD if they will accept it.
  • Most RFD's will only accept one gun, or item per fee. So a box with two Air Pistols inside would be handled as two transfers. Please keep this in mind when ordering several items at once.

What will we (TAL Arms) accept via transfer?

We accept the following items for transfer from any UK RFD:

  • New and Used Airguns (Air pistols and rifles) including FAC rated*
  • New and Used Section 1 Firearms and Shotguns including Long Barrel and Black Powder pistols*
  • New and Used Section 2 Shotguns*
  • Ammunition (please contact us prior to arranging this service)
  • Airsoft guns that are not classified as Realistic Imitation Firearms (RIF's)

We are unable to accept the following items:

  • Section 5 firearms**
  • Airsoft guns that are classified as Realistic Imitation Firearms (RIF's)**

*we will still accept a transfer if the item you are transferring is something we stock. We would of course prefer that you shopped with us, but won't refuse the transfer because of it.

**Any attempt to do so will result in the item being returned to the point of origin due to licencing restrictions.
